Can you keep gummy bears forever in their original packaging?

I'm not sure, actually. Gummy bears and gummy treats can actually become stale. The preservatives that are pumped inside of the sugary treat give them a maximum shelf life of 5-10 years. Forever is an awful long time, don't you think?
