In the computer game Age of Empires...?

I hit every key on my keyboard during game play just to see if I could find a way to select idle military units (didn't work) but what did happen was it sped my game up and now all the units in my game have a noticeable speed boost and it is pretty annoying so does anyone know how to turn the speed down?
